Hey all,

A rant about dining in Thousand Oaks/Westlake Village: I'm tired of having only one choice : a chain restaurant. In Thousand Oaks we have Black Angus, Outback Steakhouse, El Torito, Mimi's Cafe... and the list goes on. Why does this suck?

1. The menus have no variety. At a real restaurant the menu reflects the chefs whim, local ingredients, and seasonal ingredients.

2. How much bland food can you stand? The choice of steak and sandwhich becomes tiresome. Tex-Mex is not ethnic - what about a real Italian, French, Continental, Indian, or Thai restaurant?

Here's what I ask. If you're perfectly satisfied with only having one or two independent restaurants for special occasions and chain food the rest of the time, say so.

If you're into local, unique delights, say so! There are a few nice places... the Bistro and Tuscany in Westlake Village come to mind.... Are there any other holes-in-the-wall that are great? Tell me please!
